Experience the scenic beauty of Rotorua's lakes. See five of the area's surrounding lakes including a view to Mount Tarawera. Enjoy a guided tour of the Buried Village, where Te Wairoa Village was buried by the eruption of Mount Tarawera in the late 1800's. The tour finishes with a guided tour through Rotorua Museum including the Rotorua Stories film.

MAORI HANGI & CONCERT – Tamaki Tours

Welcome to a world of ancient Maori and proud warriors.  A world that unfolds before your eyes as you journey back in time through the Maori Village of “Te Tawa Ngahiri Pa”.  Join in a truly authentic and traditional culture for an evening of entertainment and fun. Start with the half day option, then spend the afternoon visiting spectacular lakes and the historical village destroyed by the 1886 eruption of Mt. Tarawera. Visit: Lake Tikitapu (Blue Lake), Lake Rotokakahi (Green Lake), the Buried Village and Lake Tarawera.

You are picked up from your accommodation by Mt Tarawera 4WD Tours, driven up Mt Tarawera via Kaingaroa Forest for an optional guided walk through and around craters. Picked up by Helicopter at the top, you fly over 9 craters and follow 15km path of the 1886 eruption to Waimangu Volcanic Valley, return to Rotorua via the Volcanic Crater Lakes.

Visit Rainbow Springs and Rainbow Farm Show, for a fascinating and entertaining Kiwi experience!  Located only 6kms from the centre of Rotorua, Rainbow cleverly provides two international attractions in one location linked by an under-group pedestrian walkway.
Hours are 8am to 5.00pm (5.30pm in summer).

Rainbow Springs – Get to eye-level with four species of trout swimming behind the glass in our underwater viewing pool which is a natural freshwater spring that produces 2 million gallons of water every day. You'll see brown and rainbow trout, North American Brook Char and Tiger Trout. See the Tuatara, a prehistoric reptile unique to New Zealand. Also see the Rainbow Kiwi.

Rainbow Farm - Fifty minutes of live, on-stage farm activities. Become part of the show … or just watch a New Zealand farmer milk a cow, make cream and butter, bottle-feed a baby lamb, ride a bull…You may even be asked to have a try yourself!   Richly informative show gives you an animated insight into New Zealand Farming. Farm Show times: Every day at 10.30am, 11.45am, 1.00pm, 2.30pm and 4.00pm.
