Britz Motorhomes Terms & Conditions

The following is a summary of Britz Terms & Conditions – clients to refer to contract at Britz counter for full terms and conditions.  Rates and conditions are subject to change without notice. (Rates mentioned in Terms & Conditions include GST)

RATES INCLUDE:

• Unlimited kilomteres

• Vehicle Insurance – subject to excess.

• Pre-hire cleaning fees.

• 24-hour nationwide roadside assistance helpline (freephone)

• Holiday Rewards card with discounts to tourist attractions.

• Travel Wallet including roadmaps and travel information

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Excess Reduction:
(to be paid on commencement of hire at rental counter)
In the event of any accident the hirer is responsible for the first NZ$5000 (excess) of the cost of damage to third party property or to the rented vehicle.

Option 1: 
Excess can be reduced to NZ$2500 by payment of NZ$18 per day.
Option 2:
Excess can be reduced to NZ$220 by payment of NZ$35 per day.

Security Deposit/Bond:
(to be paid on commencement of hire at rental counter)

If you do not take the Excess Reduction a security deposit of NZ$5000 is payable.
If you take Excess Reduction Option 1 a security deposit of NZ$2500 is payable.
If you take Excess Reduction Option 2 a security deposit of NZ$220 is payable.
This is fully refundable provided the vehicle is returned on time, undamaged, with a clean interior and a full tank of  fuel.

Diesel Tax Recovery Fee:
This fee will be calculated and collected on return of your vehicle based on the kilometres travelled during your hire. The vehicle rates per 100KM are as follows: (rates subject to Government changes)

2 Berth: NIL
2 Berth (Toilet & Shower): $2.47
4 Berth: NZ$2.86
6 Berth: NZ$2.99

Rates:
Rates are calculated on a per calendar day basis.

Rental Period:
Minimum 5 days.

One Way Rentals:
One way rentals are available between all branch locations. A one way rental fee of NZ$220 will be charged for all rentals between the North and South Island (and vice versa) between 01 October 2005 and 31 March 2006).

Airport Concession Recovery Fee:
An airport pick-up fee of NZ$12 will apply for all hires with pick-up at Queenstown airport. This surcharge is payable to Britz directly upon collection of the vehicle.

Branches:
Auckland and Christchurch: daily from 0700 to 1800 hours.
Queenstown: daily from 0800 to 1800 hours (summer) and 0800 to 1700 hours (winter).
Wellington: Monday to Saturday from 0900 to 1800 hours.
All branches closed Christmas Day (25 December).
Pick-ups and drop-offs after branch hours may be available by prior arrangement (fees will apply).

Transfer:
Britz provides free airport to Branch and Branch to airport transfer on day of arrival and departure for our
Auckland and Christchurch Branch. Queenstown Branch is located at the Airport.

Licence:
A full resident country drivers licence, held for a least one year, is to be presented at the time of rental. If the licence is not in English format, an international drivers licence is also required.

Age Restrictions:
Drivers must be 21 years of age or over. A medical certificate stating that the customer is fit to drive the vehicle they have booked for the duration of the hire is required for drivers over the age of 75.

Change of Drop off Destination:
If the hirer wishes to change the drop off destination after the rental has commenced, they must first obtain authorisation from the Reservations Centre in Auckland. Subject to the change being approved, an additional charge of up to NZ$500 may apply.

Rental Extension:
If the hirer wishes to extend the rental whilst on hire, they must first obtain authorisation from the Reservations Centre in Auckland. This is subject to availability. The extra cost of an extended rental must be paid by credit card over the telephone on confirmation of the rental extension. Failure to obtain authorisation will result in a fee of NZ$150 in addition to the daily rate.

Road Restrictions:
Campervans can only be driven on sealed/bitumen or well-maintained roads. No vehicle shall be driven on Skippers Road (Queenstown), Ninety Mile Beach (Northland), Ball Hut Road (Mt. Cook) and North of Colville Township (Coromandel Peninsula). Maui reserves the right at its sole discretion to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions.

Roadside Assistance:
Any problems associated with the vehicle, including equipment failure, must be reported to Britz as soon as possible, and within 24 hours in order to give Maui the opportunity to rectify the problem during the rental. Failure to do so will compromise any claims for compensation. Maui do not accept liability for any claims submitted after this period.

Change of  Vehicle:
Should the vehicle booked be unavailable through unforeseen circumstances, Britz reserves the right to substitute an alternative vehicle without prior notification and at no extra cost. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the hirer to a refund.

Cancellation Fees:

• If cancelled 60 days prior to pick-up: No Fee

• If cancelled from 60 to 30 days prior to pick-up: 20% of Gross Rental.

• If cancelled 29 to 7 days prior to pick-up: 50% of Gross Rental.

• If cancelled within 6 days of pick-up or no-show: 100% of Gross Rental.

• If vehicle is returned early for any reason whatsoever: No Refund Available.

Additional Equipment:

Picnic Table:   NZ$22.00 per rental.
Picnic Chair:   NZ$12.00 per rental.
Child/Booster Seat:   NZ$25.00 per rental
