Maui Cars Terms & Conditions
The following
is a summary of Maui Terms & Conditions – refer to contract at Maui counter
for full terms and conditions. Rates and conditions are subject to change
without notice.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
Excess Reduction:
In the event
of any accident the hirer is responsible for the first NZ$1800 (excess) of
the cost of damage to third party property or to the rented vehicle. This
excess can be reduced to NZ$220 by payment of NZ$19 per day.
(to be paid on commencement of hire at rental counter.)
Security Deposit/Bond:

If you do not
take the Excess Reduction a security deposit of NZ$1800 is payable.
If you take
the Excess Reduction option a security deposit of NZ$220 is payable.
This is fully
refundable provided the vehicle is returned on time, undamaged, with a clean
interior and a full tank of fuel.
Rates:
Rates are
calculated on a 24 hour basis.
Rental Period:
Minimum 1 day. Minimum 3 days for one-way rentals.
One Way Rentals:
No one-way fees apply.
Airport Concession
Recovery Fee:
An
airport pick-up fee of NZ$10 (until 31 March 2005) and NZ$12 (from 1
April2005) will apply for all hires with pick-up at
Queenstown airport. This surcharge
is payable to Maui directly upon collection of the vehicle.
Branches:
Auckland,
Christchurch, Queenstown and Wellington.
Auckland and Christchurch:
Daily from 0700 to 1800 hours.
Queenstown: Daily from 0800 to 1800 hours - summer.
Daily from 0800 to 1700 hours - winter.
Wellington: Monday to Saturday
from 0900 to 1800 hours (from 1 April 2005).
All branches closed Christmas Day.
Pick-ups and drop-offs after branch hours may be available by prior
arrangement (fees will apply).
Transfers:
Maui
provides free airport to Branch and Branch to airport transfer on day of
arrival and departure for our
Auckland and Christchurch Branch. Queenstown Branch is located at the
Airport.
Licence:
A full resident country drivers licence, held for a least one year, is to be
presented at the time of rental. If the licence is not in English format, an
international drivers licence is also required.
Age Restrictions:
Drivers must
be 21 years of age or over. A medical certificate stating that the customer
is fit to drive the vehicle they have booked for the duration of the hire is
required for drivers over the age of 75.
Change of Drop off
Destination:
If the hirer
wishes to change the drop off destination after the rental has commenced,
they must first obtain authorisation from the Reservations Centre in
Auckland. Subject to the change being approved, an additional charge of up
to NZ$500 may apply.
Rental Extension:
If the hirer
wishes to extend the rental whilst on hire, they must first obtain
authorisation from the Reservations Centre in Auckland. This is subject to
availability. The extra cost of an extended rental must be paid by credit
card over the telephone on confirmation of the rental extension. Failure to
obtain authorisation will result in a fee of NZ$150 in addition to the daily
rate.
Road Restrictions:
Cars
can only be driven on sealed/bitumen or well-maintained roads. No vehicle
shall be driven on Skippers Road (Queenstown), Ninety Mile Beach
(Northland), Ball Hut Road (Mt. Cook) and North of Colville Township (Coromandel
Peninsula). Maui reserves the right at its sole discretion to restrict
vehicle movements in certain areas due to adverse road or weather
conditions.
Roadside Assistance:
Any problems
associated with the vehicle, including equipment failure, must be reported
to Maui as soon as possible, and within 24 hours in order to give Maui the
opportunity to rectify the problem during the rental. Failure to do so will
compromise any claims for compensation. Maui do not accept liability for any
claims submitted after this period.
Change of Vehicle:
Should the
vehicle booked be unavailable through unforeseen circumstances, Maui
reserves the right to substitute an alternative vehicle without prior
notification and at no extra cost. This shall not constitute a breach of
contract and does not entitle the hirer to a refund.
Cancellation Fees:

If cancelled 21 days prior to pick-up No Fee
