HOLLYFORD TRACK
The
Hollyford Track, in New Zealand's Fiordland National Park, is referred to as
“the greatest mountains to sea guided walk in the world”.

There is now
just the one three day product with either a fly-out or walk-out option
(at the same price)
-
The Track is
now based on a Queenstown to Queenstown basis.

Flights out
may either be by fixed wing aircraft or helicopter, depending on the
weather at the time.
Itinerary:
Pre-tour
briefing
Pre-tour briefing begins at 7pm the day before departure The guide will explain
the details of the Track, arrange storage for your surplus luggage and hand
out raincapes and backpacks to those requiring them.
Three Day Hollyford Track
Day 1:
Waterfalls, Pyke River Lodge
Depart at 7 A.M. from Queenstown, picking up guests who opt to overnight at
Te Anau, through
the Eglington Valley to the start of the
Track in the Hollyford Valley. Then walk along the Hollyford River to Pyke
River Lodge. (17 km walking)
Day 2: Lakes,
Jetboating, Thousand Year-Old Trees
After a short walk to Lake Alabaster enjoy a jetboat ride down the Hollyford
River and across Lake McKerrow to the historic site of Jamestown. Meander
through ancient Podocarp forest. Arrive at Martin's Bay Lodge by 5 P.M. (12
km walking)
DAY 3:
Wildlife Experience, Martin's Bay Beach and Coastline/Scenic Flight to
Milford Sound
Walk through rejuvenating forest to the fur seal colony. Travel by jetboat
to the beach and explore the sand dunes and lagoon. Return to Martin's Bay
Lodge and then enjoy a scenic flight to Milford Sound, with views of the Track route, Hollyford Valley and Mt Tutoko, Fiordland's highest peak.
Board your coach for the return to Queenstown, arriving back at about 7.30
P.M. (8 km walking)
DAY 3 Walkout Option
An early
morning boat journey takes you up Lake McKerrow to the confluence of the
Hollyford and Pyke Rivers. Return with your guide to the start of the Walk,
return to Queenstown no later than 7.30 P.M.
Milford Sound Cruise Option (at extra cost)
Guests
may take the 3 P.M. Milford Sound Cruise, motor coaching back to Te Anau for
an overnight stay OR spend the night at Milford Sound on the
Milford Mariner. Both options are NOT included in the Routeburn Track
price and are at additional cost.
