MILFORD TRACK
Often described as “the finest
walk in the world” the Milford Track is a 5 day / 4 night Queenstown to
Queenstown all-inclusive guided walk through the heart of Fiordland National
Park to Milford Sound.
 Itinerary
4:00 P.M. Day Before Departure
Meet at Ultimate Hikes Office, top floor, "The Station", corner Camp and
Shotover Streets, Queenstown for pre-track briefing. Packs, sleeping sheets
and raincoats will be provided. It is essential that you attend this
briefing. In the event you are unable to attend the briefing we must know
your accommodation plans to enable the above equipment and information to be
delivered to your hotel.
Day 1: Queenstown to
Glade House
Depart from Queenstown by
coach to Te Anau, arriving in time for a light lunch. After lunch drive to
Te Anau
Downs
boat harbour, where a launch takes hikers across Lake Te Anau to commence the walk
from the wharf to Glade House.
Day 2:
Glade House to Pompolona
Leave Glade House and cross
the Clinton River walking through the Beech forest. From here it's onto the
“Prairie” and then a short climb to Pompolona Lodge for your second night on
the Milford Track.
Day 3: Pompolona to Quintin via Mackinnon
Pass
Today climb to the top of Mackinnon Pass.
After lunch in the Pass
Hut the track takes you down a long downhill section to Quintin Lodge. For
those wishing to view the Sutherland Falls it’s a 90 minute round trip walk from Quintin.
Day 4:
Quintin to Mitre Peak Lodge, Milford Sound
A full day’s walk, over
sometimes rocky terrain, to Milford Sound via Sandfly Point. From here catch
the launch to Milford Sound and Mitre Peak Lodge, where you will enjoy a
farewell dinner.
Day 5: Milford Sound to Te Anau or
Queenstown
Enjoy a cruise on Milford Sound before
coaching to Te Anau or Queenstown.

Pre-track briefing at 4.00pm
afternoon prior to departure at the Ultimate Hikes office – The Station,
Queenstown. For those departing from Te Anau briefing at 9.30am morning of
departure at the Holiday Inn.

Queenstown/Te Anau to start of Track and return.

accommodation on the Track – multi share bunk style OR private facility
depending
on option booked.

on the Track.
